Brett Rogers
State Director
Brett has been responsible for the overall operations of the Washington Small Business Development Center network since 2005.
He holds a Master of International Management degree from Thunderbird School of Global Management and has earned the Certified Economic Developer designation from the International Economic Development Council. Brett has extensive experience in international and domestic small business development with several significant consulting assignments in Romania, Russia, Moldova, Kosovo and Namibia. In addition to his SBDC activities, Brett has domestic economic development experience with the Palouse Economic Development Council, the Grays Harbor Economic Development Council and the Columbia River Economic Development Council.
Brett is Washington SBDC’s voting member of the Association of Small Business Development Centers (ASBDC). He serves on the national Board of Directors of the ASBDC.
Duane Fladland
Associate State Director
Duane moved to Spokane from Santa Fe, New Mexico where he was the Associate State Director of the NM Small Business Development Center for more than seven years. He has more than 20 years experience with the Small Business Development Center program, serving in various administrative, consultant and management capacities. In addition he has more than 10 years experience as an entrepreneur in agriculture. He is currently a member of the National Association of SBDCs Accreditation Committee, and was a Malcolm Baldrige examiner for Quality New Mexico. He is certified by the National Development Council as an Economic Development Finance Professional and recently completed training by the Palladium Group on the Balanced Scorecard. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Sioux Falls College in South Dakota and a certification from the Information Technology Institute in Denver, Colorado as an Information Technology Specialist.
Duane is excited to be at the Washington SBDC where he can enjoy his passion for serving the small business community and the outdoors.
Terry L. Chambers
Network Training Director
Terry is responsible for all training events and the professional development of all Certified Business Advisors (CBAs) in the network. He joined the SBDC as a Certified Business Advisor and Center Manager in 2005.
Terry has worked extensively in technology commercialization in high-tech product and program management taking several products to market, and has managed a sales support division, an international service department and other operations departments. He has also been a venture capitalist, owned his own import/export business and currently owns a small manufacturing business. He has taught at the university level and instructed workshops for over 15 years.
Terry holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the Boise State University. He is also a Certified Economic Development Finance Professional.
Cindy Doyl
Training Program Coordinator
Cindy joined the WSBDC in February 2008. She facilitates the state training programs including managing registration and materials, coordinating events, and tracking professional development. She also administers the training portion of the state web site, and supports the business advisors and clients in the Spokane SBDC.
Prior to coming to the Washington network Cindy worked for nine years at the Spokane SBDC supporting the business advisors and the small-business training program in cooperation with the Community Colleges of Spokane.
David Thompson
Information Technology Specialist
David joined the WSBDC in July 2007. He strives to implement new technologies, enhance current technologies, and find technological solutions for the centers within the WSBDC network. This has included internal web applications, IMing, blogging, a Wiki and others. He is also responsible for training staff on these new technologies.
Before coming to the WSBDC, David spent a number of years working as an application developer for a national telemarketing company. He has also held technical jobs in areas such as network construction, help desk, scripting, custom circuit designs, and in-home computer repair and setup.
Hannah Egland
Administrative Assistant
Hannah joined the WSBDC in December of 2009 as the Lead Office Administrative Assistant. She completes administrative tasks for the State Director and performs complex clerical duties including assistance with and editing reports; monitoring and updating website content; creating "brag sheets", preparing meeting materials and correspondence; and ordering and monitoring program inventory. She is also responsible for fiscal support including processing of departmental Travel Expense Vouchers, AP/AR, monitoring program budgets, purchasing and credit card reconciliation. Lastly Hannah assists with travel arrangements and administrative support of the Leadership and Staff team.
Hannah previously worked at the College of Liberal Arts Dean's office at Washington State University in Pullman. Prior to WSU she worked for many years in private health insurance.
Catherine Bugayong
Export Secretary Senior
Catherine Bugayong joined the WSBDC in April 2011 as the Secretary Senior of the Export Readiness Center in south Seattle. Catherine provides the International Trade Specialists with administrative support, monitors office support functions, and does computer troubleshooting. She also prepares presentation materials and conducts market research.
Prior to working at the WSBDC, Catherine interned with the Washington State Department of Commerce and completed her degrees in Economics and International Studies at the University of Washington.
Carrie Greenwalt
Export Secretary Senior
Carrie joined the WSBDC, in October 2011, as the Secretary Senior of the Export Readiness Center in Spokane. Carrie provides administrative support to the International Trade Project Director and the International Trade Specialists. This support includes monitoring/updating the Export website content, travel arrangements, contact database management and serves as the receptionist for the WSBDC Spokane office.
Carrie worked for Washington State University – Western Center for Risk Management Education previously, as an Administrative Assistant.
